How SCLogic Fixed Fragmented Quoting and Billing with Nue
When logistics software provider SCLogic set out to modernize its revenue operations, it hadn't decided whether Salesforce would even be part of the journey.
The tipping point?
SCLogic CFO Trent Walklett wanted Nue — and using Nue meant undergoing a full tech stack revitalization with Salesforce at the center.
“At the beginning of the sales process, we were considering Salesforce, and Nue was the final thing to make the switch,” Walklett said. “Had we not gone with Nue, we would not have switched to Salesforce.”
Walklett’s decision reflects a growing pattern that Nue has seen across the market.
”Companies are moving to Salesforce or staying on the platform because of Nue,” explained Nue CEO Mark Walker. “Nue isn’t available on HubSpot or any other ecosystem. We leverage the extraordinary flexibility and power of Salesforce to adapt Nue to each customer.”
Sales reps built quotes in Excel, with no tie-in to any system until manually entered. Final pricing and approvals happened over email, sometimes involving twelve or more messages for a single deal. Once a quote was finalized, it was manually re-entered into a DocuSign template and then NetSuite.
SCLogic’s quote-to-cash process relied on manual steps and disconnected systems, with limited financial visibility.
Data had to be copied and re-entered across multiple systems. There was no unified workflow, no automation for approvals, and no easy way to surface insights into what had been sold, invoiced, or recognized as revenue. While SCLogic used NetSuite for revenue recognition, there was no consistent handoff from sales to finance.
Walklett knew the process had to change. He had been introduced to Nue at a previous company and understood its unique advantage: a Salesforce-native architecture that combined quoting, lifecycle management, and billing in one system.
Following go-live, Nue became the connective tissue between SCLogic’s sales, finance, and billing workflows. Quotes could be built and approved inside Salesforce. Approved orders were synced into NetSuite for revenue recognition and financial reporting. Finance could access real-time data without untangling spreadsheets or tracking status updates via email.
Where previously SCLogic had disconnected systems and a lot of manual overhead, they now had a single platform where quotes, changes, approvals, billing, and customer lifecycle updates are handled in one place, with automation, controls, and visibility built in.
What CFOs Should Take Away
SCLogic’s journey is a clear example of finance leading digital transformation, not waiting for it.
Walklett didn’t go into the project searching for a new CRM. He was looking for a solution to fragmented quoting and billing. And that led him to Nue — and, ultimately, to Salesforce.
For CFOs, the lessons are straightforward:
- — If quoting happens in spreadsheets and approvals happen in email, you’ve already outgrown your system.
- — Don’t assume CRM has to come first. In SCLogic’s case, CPQ and billing needs drove the decision to adopt Salesforce. That’s what enabled Nue.
- — Platform-native integration matters. Nue’s architecture within Salesforce enabled seamless approvals, clean handoffs to finance, and visibility that disconnected tools can’t offer.
- — Implementation can stay on track — even with team turnover — when the platform is designed to be intuitive and flexible.
- — Most importantly, a system that aligns sales and finance can deliver real operational scale and executive-level confidence.
“I would work with Nue again in a heartbeat,” Walklett said.
That one line says it all.
